10 Things You Might Not Know About Lynyrd Skynyrd

If you were to use one word to describe southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, “resilience” is what first comes to mind for me. A plane crash in 1977 which took the lives of singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines put an abrupt end to the band’s initial line-up. But somehow they managed to pick up the pieces and reunited ten years later with Ronnie’s brother Johnny Van Zant on vocals and have been touring and putting out new music ever since. The band recently released Last of a Dyin’ Breed, their thirteenth studio album. Here we’re listing…

Simon McBride – Crossing The Line

OK, so I’m not sure if this is an official genre or not, but I’m going to call Simon McBride’s new CD, Crossing The Line, a Southern Blues Power Rock package chock full of really phenomenal songs. 38 Special – Live From Texas

As the inner sleeve of this disc reflects, this album was recorded throughout the state of Texas in September 2009. That means that you’re going to get a very loud crowd, as Texans love their music – whether your name is Wills or Van Zant. Speaking of which! There are no heavy handed musical sermons, as the legendary rockers are in no way shape or form trying to influence one’s political persuasion. It’s simply put, Rock and Roll, and that’s one thing 38 Special does just about as good as anyone. Seriously, this is…

Doug Gray – 40 Years Of ‘Fire’ as Marshall Tucker Goes Strong!

Doug Gray, one of the founding members of the legendary Southern Rock group The Marshall Tucker Band, would be one person who might dispute the old saying “You Can’t Go Home Again.” Gray is one artist whose life has come full circle, literally. “I’m sitting less than two miles from where I grew up,” he says from his home in Spartanburg, SC. “I moved to Myrtle Beach for about eight years, but this is…
