Ottawa based singer-songwriter Lola Spriggs (www.lolaspriggs.com) is on a roll with her latest infectious pop/rock single “Your One and Only,” scoring her third Hollywood Music in Media (HMMA) nomination in the Best Adult Contemporary/AAA category at this year’s event, which takes place in Hollywood, California November 15, 2012 at a venue TBA.
The track broke into the Top 20 on the USA FMQB Adult Contemporary chart earlier this year.
“Your One and Only” was the first single from her latest album Shine, released last December. The collection introduced a lighter, high spirited side of her artistry while tapping into a diverse array of influences.
“Your One and Only” marks Spriggs’ third HMMA nomination overall. In 2010, she received nods for Best Pop Song (“I Wanna Love You”) and Best Adult Contemporary/AAA Song (“Nobody But You”).
“I Wanna Love You” received prominent mention in Peter Simpson’s The Big Beat List: 10 Local Songs From 2010, which was published in the Ottawa Citizen. Simpson praised the track’s effervescence and wrote that it could make the “Ottawa area single mom a pop star.” “Nobody But You” also placed in the Top 100 on FMQB’s AC 2010 and 2011 Year End Charts, just ahead of superstars Uncle Kracker/Kid Rock, Michael Buble and Miley Cyrus.
Those who have been following Spriggs’ career since the release of her 2004 debut EP Expressed can detect the unique evolution in musical styles as Spriggs’ has explored the many genres that intrigue her.
Spriggs is currently lining up shows for a tour of Canada this fall.
