“Baby, stay a little longer/’Til I don’t want you any longer/And that should take at least a billion years or more,” sings contemporary Country artist Mindy Miller, in the chorus of her co-written romantic final track of her 2014 “Let It Burn” album. This Kansas-born, Margdon Records power vocalist’s second full-length album features ten songs recorded in Clarksville, Tennessee and produced by Curt Ryle.
Miller opens the set with her first single released to radio, the up-tempo kiss-off tune “Wrong,” leading the way to back-to-back album stand-outs. Swamp rocker “Coming Down On Me” is her opportunity to bare vocals with bite and “Lie To Me” shows she can go deep and deliver to sell a heartbreaking ballad like they used to.
On her title track, Miller easily communicates that a woman’s scorn can certainly scorch, and is snarky with attitude on “Get Over It.” Story song “White Circle” proves typical of her strong and rangey-fare. Unlike last track “Stay A Little Longer,” Miller really doesn’t have to plead with listeners to stick around — her veteran chops know how to command an audience.
