With the word “Christ” in Christmas, it’s nice to know there are artists who don’t kow-tow to political correctness and call their Christmas tour a “holiday” show. Then again, when those artists are two of the biggest Christian performers in the world, it’s no wonder they are celebrating Christmas with their stop in Atlanta on Michael W. Smith’s 2014 Christmas tour. Such was the case last night at The Fox Theatre, when Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant brought Smith’s Christmas show to the southern capital.
On a stage dressed out with snowflakes and Christmas scenes, Smith and Grant performed seasonal favorites like “Jingle Bells” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” as well as Christian hymns including “How Great Thou Art” and others. The sold-out crowd found themselves dazzled with the strong vocal abilities of the two world-class performers who switched off the lead on songs throughout the evening.
Headlining the show is Michael W. Smith, who welcomes Amy Grant and Rachael Lampa on different stops of the tour. Atlanta was a stop for Amy Grant to join Smith, and on the remaining tour dates it will be Lampa. Those dates left include:
- Dec 18 – Spokane, WA w/ Rachael Lampa
- Dec 19 – Portland, OR w/ Rachael Lampa
- Dec 20 – Redmond, WA w/ Rachael Lampa & Orchestra
- Dec 21 – Abbotsford, BC, CANADA w/ Rachael Lampa & Orchestra
This is a show you do NOT want to miss if you have the opportunity to see Smith and his co-headliner in concert. You’ll be reminded that Jesus is the reason for the season and find a little peace in your heart with the wonderful performances and celebrated songs.
