Justin Matthew Sargent, currently appearing on Broadway in the leading role of ‘Drew’ in “ROCK OF AGES,” has joined Tony-nominated “Rock Of Ages” alum and American Idol Constantine Maroulis for the April reading of “LOST IN LOVE,” a new musical based on the hit songs of Air Supply. Sargent has appeared on Broadway in “Bonnie and Clyde” and as a swing in “Rock of Ages.”
Also joining the Creative Team is Jonathan Ivie (“Jivie”), as Musical Director. After several years in regional theaters, Jivie is making his Broadway debut as a keyboard/accordion sub in the pit of the revival of EVITA, starring Ricky Martin. Jivie was Music Supervisor for the world premiere of “Rock the Presidents.” Josh Freilich will be Assistant Musical Director. David M. Baris joins as Stage Manager.
Air Supply, the hit-making duo of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, scored seven top five singles in the 1980s with such mega-hits as “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love,” and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.” Air Supply recently completed a 3-week tour of Brazil and will appear at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in NYC on April 20.
Graham Russell, who composed many of Air Supply’s hits, has written four new songs for the musical and is working hands-on with book writer Melissa Bell in developing the new musical. Robyn Lee directs. A former Broadway performer (“Merlin, 5 6 7 8 Dance!”) Ms. Lee has directed several Off Broadway shows (“Help!!Desk” and “Adore the Spirit”) and is author of “In the Moment: The Art of Being” and “The Book of TABs: Meditations on Acting Life.”
Mr. Russell plans to attend the event as well as perform guitar-playing duties.
“Lost In Love” is set in England in the early 1900s and has a Downton Abbey feel. As royalty and emerging American wealth collide, two friends must decide to follow tradition or live for love.
Sargent will read the role of John Wilson, Margo’s love interest, who is pushed aside by Margo’s billionaire brother in favor of a charming Italian prince with little financial means, played by Maroulis. Sargent will be featured in such favorites as “Sweet Dreams,” “I Can Wait Forever,” and “Even The Nights Are Better.”
