Laura Bell Bundy has a new song called “Two Step” on the new Dance Y’all compilation album just released by the Big Machine Label Group, and while you can do the traditional two step to the song, the lyrics and the attitude of her song give it a whole new twist. “The idea of ‘Two Step’ is that, typically, in the traditional two step you have to wait for a guy to ask you to dance. It’s a partnering dance,” says Laura Bell.
“But with this ‘Two Step,’ you don’t need a guy to do it. So I think the idea behind ‘Two Step’ was that—let’s do a spin on what a two step is. Yes it’s a country line-dancing song; yes you can still do a traditional two step to the song but you can also do a two step on your own without a guy—or without a girl. You know, if you’re a guy, you don’t have to ask a girl. But typically,” she says with a laugh, “It’s the girls out there shaking their booty’s alone.”
Fans can catch Laura Bell as part of the Dance Y’all production, which is touring with Rascal Flatts on their Live and Loud Tour.
