He enjoyed a successful athletics career in college, and has also had success as an actor an model, but another talent that Jody Lee Petty has is his music.
The North Carolina native possesses a very distinctive singling voice, which is kind of uncommon today in the business. Many artists tend to try to sound like someone else when they step behind the microphone, but while Petty definitely shows his influences, the newcomer makes his sound all his own.
The opener on this sampler, “A Country Song and A Bible Verse,” comes alive as soon as the track begins with its’ very driving intro. Petty strikes a very confident tone with the well-written lyrics, and sounds well doing so. That style continues on the fun “Damn It Feels Good To Be Country,” which really doesn’t need a lot of work to get to the airwaves. The groove of the song would just fit right into Aldean, Bryan, & Company.
Even when he shifts his musical focus, on the more contemporary sounding “Done My Time,” it still works. While it might be a little less traditional, his voice continues to rise to the challenge.
Watch out Music City, Jody Lee Petty is on his way!
