Jenny & Tyler – Open Your Doors

by Chuck Dauphin

I love that feeling when you hear something great and unique for the first time. This project – from a husband and wife duo who met at the University of Delaware – is one of those occasions.

This is one of the best new Gospel acts that I have heard in some time. That’s easy to say. The lyrics and the arrangements are so fresh that you will fall in love with his disc from the very first listen.
Both have a unique sound. Jenny has the stunning, sweet voice of the two, while Tyler’s is a little more raw. Put them together, and you’ve got magic. Their harmony on the opening “Little Balloon” is spellbinding, as well as on the faith-driven “Skyline Hill” and “Psalm 86.”

Jenny’s vocal gets time in the spotlight on the weary-yet-hopeful “When Darkness Falls,” and she conjures up sounds of Leigh Nash on “You Keep Loving Me,” which I think could be a hit in many different formats. Make sure that you include a spot at the table for this talented duo, because they should be around for awhile!
