International singing sensation Jay Scott Berry maintained his pace this week, alongside the major names in the music business. His second hit single, “Solitary Man,” made another leap up the FMQB charts, into the Top 40, inching out Lifehouse, Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars. Berry’s fresh take on the classic Neil Diamond tune continued its momentum up NMW’s AC40 chart as well, where the single jumped to #17, sandwiched between hitmakers Coldplay and Katy Perry. On New Music Weekly’s highly competitive Hot 100, Jay celebrated another solid week, moving up to #21, ahead of Train and Nickelback.
And that’s not all. “Solitary Man” jumped another three spots on the NMW’s Top 40, edging out superstar Jennifer Lopez. Blazing across the Independent charts, Berry continues to earn his reputation as one of this year’s hottest new acts. He adds another week to his year-long streak on the Independent Music Network’s Mainstream charts, landing again in the Top 10.
With nomination announcements from numerous Indie Award shows just around the corner, Berry may find his 2011 musical efforts rewarded in many categories. Breaking records and setting trends is something that the industry has already come to expect from Jay Scott Berry. And, with yet another single waiting in the wings, Berry still has a few surprises left before the end of the year.
A seasoned professional when it comes to stage performance and music production, Berry began charting the course for his current hit album Keepsake over 18 months ago. “I had a pretty clear idea of the sound and style that I wanted to achieve — somewhere between Bublé and Bocelli,” he says with a laugh. “And it’s reassuring that radio and fans have now embraced that sound.” With all this momentum, however, Berry remains focused and realistic. “This year has certainly been a rollercoaster ride of radio charts and concert tours,” he says. “But there is still a long way to go and, as an indie in the mainstream music market, it’s a constant challenge.”
