On Monday, May 19th Southern Rock legends including Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels of Charlie Daniels Band, Rickey Medlocke and Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie all came together to unveil Gibson Guitar’s new Southern Rock 1959 Les Paul at exclusive event in Nashville. The event featured a jam session by all of the Southern Rock Ambassadors and guitar aficionado Lee Roy Parnell, as well as featured appearances by country legend, Vince Gill and Galadrielle Allman. The new guitar, which is available at authentic Gibson retailers nationwide, is the first instrument to pay tribute to a music genre. A portion of proceeds of each guitar sold will be donated to the Music Health Alliance.
Gibson Custom’s Tribute to Southern Rock 1959 Les Paul is a special guitar that pays homage to a genre of Rock Music that originated in the Southern United States during the late 1960s and early 1970s. With a goal of preserving the Les Paul’s place as a significant part of Southern Rock’s lineage, as well as to reflect the spirit of positive revolution that fueled it, the guitar’s finish was enhanced to create something new, yet familiar. The result is a “Reverseburst” sunburst that is slightly reminiscent of a heart centered on the guitar’s top, a nod to the tremendous spirit that pushed Southern Rock from fringe to mainstream consciousness. Guitar aficionados can purchase one of the fifty exclusive signed guitars by rock legends Gary Rossington, Jimmy Hall and Charlie Daniels for $18,824.
