Grammy Award winner and singing sensation Lynn Anderson will be honored at the First Annual WHINNY Awards on October 6. The event, which begins at 6 PM at the Radisson Opryland Hotel, is designed to shine light on people who use their high visibility to save, protect and promote the equine industry.
An avid equestrian, Lynn has turned her love of horses from what began as a childhood interest into a successful and passionate hobby. She has won 16 National Championships, four World Championships and the first ever American Quarter Horse Association trophy. She has also worked with the “Special Riders” at Animaland in Franklin, a horseback-riding therapy program for children.
“As someone who has loved horses and the equine industry since I was a young girl, I feel so grateful and excited to be a part of the First Annual WHINNY Awards,” said Lynn.
In addition to being recognized for her support of the equine industry, Lynn will also perform a few of her greatest hits at the event. Other performers include Nashville singer-songwriters Templeton Thompson, Cassidy Lynn, Mark Wayne Glasmire and DeeAnn Dominy. After the live performances and presentation of the WHINNY Awards, there will be a Rhythm and Hooves auction to benefit several equine charities: Saving America’s Mustangs, The Equestrian Aid Foundation, NetPosse.com and the All Glory Project.
Some of the items being auctioned off include: a signed guitar by Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow, an autographed DragonCon badge from William Shatner and a free breeding to a son of Seattle Slew, the only undefeated Triple Crown winner.
