Arkamo Rangers - A New Timey Thrill

When is the last time you had a good time listening to a band? A bluegrass band? A western swing band? Or a Country band? Well you have all three wrapped up in one big BLUEGRASS band. Arkamo Rangers formed in the fall of 2002, and out of the Ozarks came a band which gives your ears just that, a real good time. Band members Chad Graves, Dobro/vocals, Dave Harp, Mandolin/ vocals........

Apollo Up - Chariots of Fire

Dude, Rock-N-Roll is back and with a vengeance. I am digging these boys with a rocking angst passion - the good old days of banging your head is back with heart pounding drums and grinding guitars. Where’s the party, guys, and why didn’t you invite me? The lyrics in this CD have a straightforward rebel without a cause feel to them. The melodies are interesting and actually melodic not just screaming which is..........

Ann-Marita - Self-Titled

Ann-Marita has a lovely voice. However, there are places I couldn’t understand the vocals. Maybe it’s a mixing problem, or an enunciation problem, or possibly a little of both. There are a couple of weak song choices—Alive and Kickin’ and That Girl, for instance. But overall the CD is pretty dang catchy. Class of ’93 is nostalgic. Face in the Crowd is very melodic. God knows I can relate....

Amy Speace - Songs For Bright Street

I put Amy Speace’s CD in my player. I lay back on my bed and started sinking into a world of pure music. Amy comes straight off the vibrant streets of New York, a stage actress with the National Shakespeare Company and has acted off-Broadway plays, so she is no stranger to the stage and seeps with artistic pizzazz. With my eyes closed I’m pretending I’m in a smoking bar with her up.....

Amanda Wilson - Small Town Girl

Amanda Wilson may be a young artist but sounds like an old pro. She has been singing as long as she could talk and the experience is vivid in her talents. Amanda has the ability to sound familiar, with a hint of influences like Dolly Parton. At the same time, she gives off a persona all her own. This album is a nice collection of obviously well selected songs written by writers who had this artist in mind........

Amanda B - Mandarava

Quote: "If for no other reason, get your hands on this CD so you can own 'Always Makes Me Run'." According to the Beta Records CD site, "...Amanda B is a singer/songwriter that defies simple classification. Her music reflects an eclectic mix of musical styles, almost creating a genre of its own. [her] style has been described as 'an invigorating, fun mix of pop, dance, gospel and country.......

Allen Brown - Foolin’ Myself

This is real, honest country music. I get the feeling Allen Brown has listened to his share of Allen Jackson records. Maybe some Clint Black, too—back before Clint went all esoteric and deep on us, and started writing lines that made me think he sniffed too much incense while getting in touch with his inner child. Killin’ Time was amazing, and that’s what this reminded me of. I also get the.....

Alan Jackson - Like Red On A Rose

Alan Jackson has placed close to 50 records in the top ten of the singles chart, and has sold millions of albums since 1990. He is often mentioned alongside occasional duet partner George Strait as being one of the most dependable acts in the business, both on stage and on record. People know when they buy a Jackson album that they’re going to get a very traditional, honky-tonk disc.....

Aaron Tippin - Now & Then

I couldn’t believe it when I opened the door tonight and there you were, with your new CD. It’s been awhile. Yes, I’ve missed you too. Have you been working out? You look great, you really do. I’m glad to hear you’ve got a new distribution deal with Rust Records and I really liked the three new tracks on the CD. Ready to Rock (In a Country Kinda Way) is fun and infectious. There’s a line ...

Bering Strait - Pages

Bering Strait's sophomore album, Pages, is not only one of the best-produced albums you'll have heard in a long time, it communicates fundamental human emotions on a universal level that rivals best-selling artists in several genres. From a Russian folk song to a dobro-centric musical journey, ala Jerry Douglas, to a Fleetwood Mac cover, Pages, manages to deliver something for everyone.
