Beth Hart’s Show-Stopping Kennedy Center Honors Performance

beth-hart-jeff-beck-kch2013You may have tuned into the recent 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors to see the Led Zeppelin or David Letterman tributes, but the Beth Hart/Jeff Beck musical salute to blues legend Buddy Guy was the surprise show-stopping moment.  No one expected to be so blown away by an artist many had hardly or never heard of.  As the Baltimore Sun put it, “Everyone was on their feet when [Beck and Hart’s] soul-searing performance ended.”

In a pre-telecast Q&A with Entertainment Weekly, Michael Stevens, the show’s producer, alerted readers to not miss the goose-bump-provoking performance:  “There’s a singer named Beth Hart…it’s like the Bettye LaVette moment that we had four years ago – someone relatively unknown coming out of nowhere and the house falling apart and giving her a standing ovation.”
