TBone – 21st Century Englishman
and The Legend Of Rooster The Lawman
by Shannon Ross

Wow, when I received the package
containing two CDs from TBone, I honestly didn’t know what to
expect. But when I listened to each, I just cranked up the
volume and held on for the ride.
“TBone and his band are definitely in a class of their own, not
necessarily country, and yet I can see him performing at the
Grand Ole Opry anytime. TBone is a serious songwriter as well as
comedian. He has been on the music scene since he was a teenager
and forty years later still enjoys writing and performing what
can only be described as a different country sound.
21st Century Englishmen is another creation from ‘TBone’ that
will keep you tapping your foot and singing along. His sound is
reminiscent of ‘Hank Williams Sr.’with a very high mellow voice.
“He’s a country lovin man” straight out of the lyrics to his
song ‘TBone Boogie’that is drum heavy. ‘Body & Mind’ reminds me
of something off the soundtrack from ‘Urban Cowboy’ with his
mellow vocals and stirring harmonies. I love the fact that he
still uses a mandolin. This instrument is such a strong sound
that everyone seems to forget about. His use of it creates a
sound in his music that is all its own. This is an easy listen
that you will get lost in.
The Legend of Rooster the Lawman was a riot. His comedy takes me
back to days of ‘Ray Stevens’ with the lyrics that I could just
laugh all day at. A must listen on this latest comedy cd is ‘Aargh!!
(not a boy named sue!)’. No folks he’s not making fun of Johnny
Cash, you have to hear it to enjoy it. He loves to tell stories
through his music. I can imagine everyone he came in contact
with while writing the lyrics to this cd has a part in his
songs. Each person has their own place in ‘TBone’ history.
“Chris Jones AKA TBone and his band have made several visits to
the Grand Ole Opry in Glasgow and also the Welsh International
Motorcycle Show. He is beloved fixture on the British
entertainment scene. You will enjoy his lyrics and vocals
throughout his music. Writing music and comedy is definitely his
passion and comes through clearly on the CDs. I have to say that
you when you listen, make sure you listen all the way through -
give the music a chance to really leak down into your bones. He
has a sound all his own, but it is one that I enjoyed.
