Angela Lidin - Sometimes I Am

by Chuck Dauphin

Some in her native land of Scandinavia have called her poet. Some have called her writer, and others have called her artist.  Who’s right, you might ask?  The answer is…all of the above.  Angela Lidin has made quite the name for herself across the waters, and this album should continue to do just that.

If you like good traditional Country, you will like a lot of what you find here.  From the shuffle sound of “Bringing Me Luck” to the Tex-Mex feel of “A Life Passes By,” she really hits the mark on the more traditional numbers here.  She also tackles heartache quite well, such as the plaintive feel of “Freedom Calls” to the loneliness-tinged “Stuck On The Hill,” which may be the best vocal performance here.

Making it in the United States isn’t always the easiest of tasks, but from the sound of things….I wouldn’t bet against her!
