Legendary country band Alabama, along with rising country artist Will Hoge, made a stop on their tour at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, GA. Opening the show, Nashville native Will Hoge garnered new fans in Georgia with his strong voice and musical talents. Hoge performed his Grammy-nominated hit, Even If It Breaks Your Heart, along with Strong and Still Got You on My Mind as well as other songs he’s written over the years for his own albums and those of other artists.
With 33 number one hits and over 75 millions albums sold, Alabama is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time. Formed by Randy Owen (guitar/lead vocals), Teddy Gentry (bass/vocals) and Jeff Cook (guitar/fiddle/vocals) in 1969, Alabama has entertained fans around the world for over 45 years. From the moment they took the stage to the lat note of the night, Alabama performed hit after familiar hit that the crowd sang along with from start to finish.
I have to say – if I didn’t know better, I would have sworn the band was lip-syncing to tracks from their albums. But the truth is, they weren’t. They still sound that good live despite nearly five decades of performing and recording. Randy Owen’s vocals are as strong as ever, the harmonies still rich, the musical performance still powerful and their stage presence as evident today as it was 20, 30 and 40 years ago.
